As one of the leading clubs
in the East Midlands region, we aim to continue our success from last season
both in results and more importantly by ensuring that players of all ages and
abilities enjoy themselves and have a positive and safe experience every
weekend.
Here at Daventry we are constantly striving to improve and to be the
best-organised and professional club in the area. All of our coaches and staff
are fully trained and conversant with not only the rules and skills of the game,
but also in the protection and welfare of the children.
We adhere to
the Rugby Football Union Policy and Procedures for Young people in Rugby Union
and apply the Rugby Continuum to ensure the safety of our players and we train
your child to enjoy rugby for the game and insist on high levels of respect for
officials, coaches and other players.
All age groups from
under 7's to under 17's are welcome, both boys and girls. It doesn't matter if
you haven't played rugby before as at Daventry we will ensure you have fun to
begin or continue playing rugby.
We take boys
and girls from 6 years old and teach them rugby in a safe and friendly
environment. Girls and boys play mixed rugby up until the age of 12.
Players over 13 but under
17 play the full fifteen aside
game, but are still covered by the Rugby Football Union Policy and Procedures
for Young people in Rugby Union
The new season
commences on the 2nd September 2007 and ends with our annual dinner
in May. We undertake training for the first four weeks and then
have a mixture of training and Home and Away matches.

The
RFU Continuum
The Club adheres to the Rugby Football Unions Rugby
Continuum. The purpose of which is viewed as a coaching pathway through which
each youngster acquires, by general degrees, those skills required to
participate in the full 15 aside game by the age of under 13. The emphasis must
be geared towards the improvement of individual skills through purposeful and
enjoyable activity. In order to allow for the testing of these skills in match
situations, a limited number of competitive fixtures and festivals/tournaments
maybe introduced.
