General information
Rugby
is a physical game that is played outside in all weather and so we recommend
that your child be provided with the following clothing:
Match
Kit
- Black
rugby shirt (club shirts are provided for matches) in cold weather a tee
shirt can be worn underneath.
- Black
rugby shorts.
- Black
rugby socks with two red stripes.
- Rugby
boots, or football boots with either moulded soles or blades. Boots with
screw in studs must be fitted with aluminium IRB approved studs. These are
available from most sports shops for only a few pounds.
- Shin
guards/body armour can be worn at a parent/guardians discretion.
Training
Kit
- Track Suit bottoms
- Training top
- Sweat Shirt
- Gum
shields/mouth guards. We recommend that as soon as your child feels comfortable
wearing a
mouth guard they should do so, especially once they start playing contact rugby
'teeth are for life'. There are three types; self moulded, shock absorbing
self moulded and individually made by a dentist.
- Shin
guards/body armour and head guards can
be worn at a parents/guardians discretion but they must be IRBA/RFU
approved.
- Towel (showers are available and
we do encourage hygiene after game).
- Clean clothing for going into
the bar area after the game, no boots or muddy clothing is allowed.
- Woolly hat for cold weather.
- Neoprene fingerless gloves also
help keep small hands warm.
We
accept that this can seem daunting and an expensive list of kit to purchase and
therefore to try and reduce the cost of starting your child's rugby career we
hope to arrange a preseason used kit sale.
The
club asks players to donate kit which is too small to the preseason kit sale.
The kit needs to be clean and in reasonable condition. All monies raised will be
used for the benefit of the children.
